Saskatchewan will be providing free hunting and angling licences to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The free licenses will be available April 12. Chuck Lees, Provincial Wildlife Manager, said licenses aren't available through a big game draw process or by outfitters, but any opportunity to buy over the counter will have a zero cost option. There is a one-time verification process of proof of service that would allow veterans the free angling or hunting licenses.

The following forms of identification will be accepted: National Defense Identification Certificate, picture or copy of Certificate of Service; and Release or Discharge Certificate.

That verification process can be completed at a field office or by emailing the relevant information to the Environment Ministry.
