With the school year starting, Hunger in Moose Jaw is getting ready for their school lunch program.

Each year, they provide 350 students with food in their healthy lunch program.

"We are told studies are saying kids with healthy lunches are concentrating better in school, doing better, and have better grades. And it's always great to spend your day with something in your belly," said Sharla Sept, Executive Director of Hunger in MJ.

Their lunch program begins on the first day of school, with their milk program starting shortly after.

On their website, their program says lunches consist of a sandwich, fruit, vegetables, and a healthy snack. A beverage is provided when funding permits. The Department of Community Resources (DCR) fund 70% of this program; Hunger in Moose Jaw raises 30% of the yearly expenses in the community. Lunches are provided free of charge to students who could benefit by the child Nutrition Program lunches.

If you would like to help with Hunger in MJ, you can always contact their office and volunteer as a driver to deliver lunches for the school children.
