The Moose Jaw Humane Society is, at what they call - Cat-pacity.

With the temperature dropping and the cooler months upon us, more cats are looking for a warm place to hide.  That means the local shelter seeing a large influx of residents bringing in stray cats.

The Moose Jaw Humane Society is located at 1755 Stadacona St. W.

"When the weather turns cold, everybody wants to bring them (cats) into us to get them out of the cold. And we understand that and we want to help, it's just difficult (because) we're a small shelter.  We can't accommodate all of the stray cats in Moose Jaw the day the temperature drops." Explains Dana Haukass, Executive Director of the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

Haukass cannot stress enough that it's extremely important to bring the animals in as soon as you come across one, not just in cold temperatures.

"It's really important that when you see that stray cat in June or July, that you bring the cat to us then. Once that weather dips down, everybody wants to bring the cats in on the same day. So it's very important when you see that stray, call us, bring it in the day you find it." Said Haukass.

Adoption is the most ideal way to help manage the increasing population of stray cats and kittens and it also takes some of the pressure off the facilities at the Moose Jaw Humane Society.

You can learn more about the adoption process and meet the animals currently up for adoption on their website or Facebook page.
