The Moose Jaw Humane Society once again held a successful 4 Paws Lottery this year.

The lottery was sold out for the first time in its history and raised $7,570 for the animal shelter.

Dana Haukaas, executive director for the humane society, talked about the importance of each fundraiser.

"It allows us to provide the very best care whether that be medical, enrichment, promotions to get those animals their forever home as quickly as possible, all of the money goes directly into the day-to-day operations here," she said.

There are a lot of expenses to running an animal shelter, but Haukaas said by far the vet bills are their biggest expense.

"That's considering the spays, the neuters, any emergent care, any animals with a chronic illness that needs to be treated that is something they can still recover from and join a forever family. It's that kind of thing that is so important to every animal here," Haukaas said.

On Friday, the lottery wrapped up with the grand prize draw for $10,000 with John Vandorland as the big winner.

The humane society does take donations year-round including cash, used quality bedding, and books for their book sale.

Information on how to donate can be found on the humane society's website
