Its a time of year many of us look forward to gathering with friends and family, eating delicious meals, and sharing gifts with loved ones, but, for a large population of us, Christmas is a stressful time where food and gifts aren't a guarantee.

The South Central Food Security Network (SCFSN) is informing residents about a number of areas throughout Moose Jaw where families in need can find some holiday help.

"You know, a lot of us take it for granted we just know we're going to have a meal or there's going to be present under the tree but for a lot of people, Christmas is not a happy time," Deann Little explained, a committee member with the SCFSN. "It's more stressful than anything. We just want people to know that there are places where they can access assistance."

A number of churches offer dinners on Christmas, the list shows where food vouchers can be found, which places have Christmas hamper, The SCFSN is making sure everyone can find what they need, which aligns with the group's mission.

"We try to improve the accessibility and daily use of safe nutritious food so we educate and engage communities in concepts of self-reliance," Little added. "We also support the need for a food system reform to environmental stability and cultural considerations."

There are printouts available at many of the committee's partner location, but a PDF can be found here and the information is also below.
