Local firefighters responded to a blaze in a home on the 15-hundred block Spadina Street on Moose Jaw's southwest side.

Senior Captain Howes explains.

"It started on the rear of the house, we're not sure just yet what the cause was and it's still under investigation," says Howe.

He goes on to say that the fire had already advanced across the whole back of the house and up in the attic area of the home when firefighters arrived.

Howes says there were people in the house at the time of the fire and are now with a neighbour.

"Everyone was out of the house," says Howes.

As for damage, the upstairs area took most of it.

Howes says, "The basement will sustain some water and smoke damage."

Fire Chief Rod Montgomery says no injuries are being reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

We will have more on this story as it develops.
