Farmers are watching the weather as spring seeding continues, with some farmers in the province already starting to wrap things up.

Drew Lerner, Senior Ag Meteorologist with World Weather Inc, says some areas of Alberta and Saskatchewan saw some showers last week.

He says the dry conditions over the past month or so were caused by a split jet stream pattern, adding that we could see more rain towards the end of the month.

"Over the next 3 weeks or so we will see a gradual shift in which the split jet stream will consolidate into one single event, or one single jet stream, and that will create some instability of its own. I think we will see some additional opportunities for rain in the last days of May and the first days of June in the eastern prairies in particular."

"It's quite dry in some areas to the point where germination is no longer possible. Field work is still advancing but there's a lot of worry that is building up across the region."

Lerner expects to see dry, hot conditions later in June, especially in the southeast portion of the prairies.
