Geri Hall is "excited" about the start of another school year.

Hall, Director of Education for Holy Trinity Catholic School Division (HTCSD), says several of their schools will begin the year with something new to look forward to.

"There's a brand new gym floor coming in at St. Agnes, St. Michael has newly painted hallways, there will be new playgrounds in September at Sacred Heart and St. Michael, and we also have Phoenix Academy's new facility opening this fall," she explained.

Phoenix Academy is an alternate school, and has been under the HTCSD umbrella for about 15 years.  Their new, renovated building is located on Fourth Avenue northeast in Moose Jaw.

While the Chrome Book (laptop) program at Vanier Collegiate isn't a new initiative, what is new says Hall is the fact that every single student at the high school will receive one this year.

"It manages classes, helps provide easy access to creating assignments, submitting assignments, archiving previous instructions, and providing feedback to students on their work," Hall said of the Chrome Book advantages.

As for unforseen issues in the early days of the school year, Hall says they'll be prepared to react.

"If we experience a huge number of enrolments in a school that we didn't anticipate," Hall said, citing one example. "We certainly are ready for whatever could happen, but we have to wait until the students come and then we'll know what that looks like."
