There's no debating it. It was one of the coldest Boxing Days that Moose Jaw, even Saskatchewan, has ever seen.

Nearly every community in the province dropped below -30 on Wednesday.  We saw -35.5 in Moose Jaw making us the coldest of them all. That's -46 or colder at times with the windchill. But there was a still a colder December 26th on record as we hit -36.6 in 1990.

There were five record lows set on Boxing Day according to Environment Canada. Assiniboia, Elbow, Lucky Lake, Rosetown and Spiritwood all set new records.

There is some relief in sight as forecasters are calling for a break from the deep freeze this weekend.  -9 degrees on Saturday which is still two degrees below normal, but much better than what we've had.

The Highway Hotline is reporting good winter driving conditions for much of the southern half of the province.
