The City of Moose Jaw recently released a progress report on the High Street construction project.

Things are looking promising as crews are on the home stretch with only the 500-700 blocks left to be completed.

Bob Craig is an Engineering Technologist with the City, and he outlined the last little bit that crews need to work on.

"Definitely the final stretch. Like I said 2 or 3 more service connections, [a] couple more trench repairs and we will be moving along. And I don't foresee any other issues popping up, but you never know with construction, and when you are digging in the ground you can find some stuff. But I think we will be moving along as anticipated from here on out."

The work on High Street has gone fairly well as it has transformed from Saskatchwan's worst road to being nearly completely repaved. That doesn't mean that the work went without a hitch. Craig explains:

"I think the construction has gone fairly well and we have had a few days where we had to slow down. We ran into some things - I mean, there was a Sask Energy issue there that we had to get accommodated so they could get their work done. And so that slowed us down a little bit."

The work on High Street has also been a group effort, with multiple companies getting their feet wet in the process of repairing the road. Craig has been pleased with how repairs have been going.

"The crews have been doing a fantastic job, Cypress [Paving], the City crew, a couple excavating companies that we have had in there and the sidewalk guys - they have been moving along. And everyone has been kind of working in conjunction with each other, and it's been moving well. So everyone seems to be pleased with the progress, and I think we are too."

The original goal was to get work completed as soon as possible, and crews are expecting to have the work completed by the end of the month.
