With spring's arrival, so comes the warm weather, which might be causing some problems for homeowners and pedestrians as the snow melt is creating some huge puddles across Moose Jaw.

If you're experiencing some troublesome water, the City is asking for your help in identifying the puddles so they can get out there and get the water flowing again.

"Obviously some [puddles] are worse than others," said Operations Manager for the City of Moose Jaw, Darrin Stephanson. "Really, our biggest challenge when it comes to catch basins in our spring thaw like this is when they become frozen in the pipes themselves. So that's when the work gets a little more extensive and we have to deploy certain equipment to deal with them."

Residents might try to take things into their own hands and chip away the ice covering the basins, but like Stephanson said, the pipes can become frozen themselves.

To clear this out, the City has a vactor truck that uses high pressure water to help flush the pipe open and they also have boiler units on trucks with a piping system that will help thaw out some storm leads and get the water draining.

If you are having issues in your area, you can report it to the City by calling the Engineering Department at 694-4448 and they'll get to the problem spot.
