Palliative care is absolutely essential for families and individuals struggling with a life-threatening illness and is a big part of the healing process for those left behind.

This kind of care focuses on improving the quality of life for patients and families.

President Lena Hartman said, "its really important to have a home like place no matter where that is and we find that if we have a facility or place, that we can offer that care and take that pressure off the family or at least support them in the places that can be supported, that's what we're hoping to do."

Having a facility also enables the people who don't want to go through their illness at home, the ability to be at a facility that offers the same care.

Lena added, "some want to be home and some do not, and this is sort of like a home and really offers the best care that we can give them."

"We recognize that with the facility that we have we can still offer that same type of care and were trying to make it an environment that seems like a home rather than just a long term care place"

Heartland Hospice will be hosting a fundraiser at the Mae Wilson theater on the 28th of March at 6:30 pm and invites everyone to come out and take part in the event which will be filled with love, hope, faith, and resilience.
