With our health cards expiring on December 31st, it may be a good idea to place the renewal sticker on the card in order to continue being covered under the province's health care.

If you did not receive the renewal sticker, or if you need a new health card because it is damaged or lost, eHealth Saskatchewan says you simply need to order a replacement card.

"Maybe it's been cracked or it's been in your wallet and been sat on a few hundred times - we can issue you a new one, you just need to contact us," explained Andrea Dutchak, Director of Health Registry.

"We want to make sure that everyone has an active and valid health card, so when they go to present it for medical care at their local health clinic that health representative knows that they are covered as an eligible resident."

She noted that if you don't have a valid health card with an up-to-date sticker attached, you may have to pay out of pocket for the medical services you received.

"Most households should've received a renewal package in the mail in the fall. We're just reminding residents that if they didn't receive that renewal package with their new stickers, they need to contact us at eHealth so that we can dispatch that package."

Dutchak added that in most cases when you haven't been mailed an update, it's because you have moved and they don't have your current address.
