The Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital got a helping hand on Aug. 24 from Golden Mobility, formerly known as Easy Care Living Centre.

Golden Mobility purchased Easy Care Living Centre on July 1 but wanted to continue to give back to the community.

“Golden Mobility knows that I try to do stuff with the community as I've done for 30 years of having a business in town, and they just wanted to let the community know that they are doing the same thing that I did,” said store general manager Greg Moore.

The donation came about when the hospital’s surgery and medicine department came to Golden Mobility looking for a quote to purchase new walkers.

“Evolution Walker, which is one of the companies that we deal with, kindly donated four walkers for us to choose who we give them to,” Moore said.

“We thought that this would be a great fit for donations as surgery and medicine are perfect places to assess people for new equipment.”

The walkers will be used to help patients recover from surgery as well as assess patients for new equipment.

However, Moore said this is only one of a couple of donations that Golden Mobility is making to the community.

“We have four more (walkers) coming from Human Care, which are Nexus walkers. When they come here, hopefully by the end of August, we're going to donate four of those to Providence Place.”

The walkers are going to be donated to the Providence Place physio department to also assess people for new equipment.
