Exciting times lie ahead for Gensource Potash.

The Saskatchewan company now has 2 solution mines in their sights - one near Craik and the other in the Eyebrow/Tugaske area.

Gensource CEO Mike Ferguson says they are still in the early stages of development.

"Implementation will take about two and a half years," said Ferguson. "We still need to complete the detailed feasability study..then there's an 18-20 month construction period before we're into production."

The project near Craik was announced in late 2014, but the newest development came when Gensource purchased two mining leases from Yancoal Canada Resources this past April.  The agreement includes Yancoal purchasing the entire 250-thousand tonnes per year expected to be produced from the new mine.

Ferguson says about 150,000 of the 250,000 at the mine to be developed near Craik has also been spoken for by clients in Brazil and India.

The mines are expected to create dozens of long-term jobs.

"On the production side we'll be looking at 47 or 48 staff to run one of these small plants," detailed Ferguson. "During the construction phase, there will be several hundred construction jobs created at that time."

Ferguson was also pleased to discuss the technology Gensource plans to use in an effort to be as efficient and environmentally-friendly as possible.

"We don't use any fresh water from surface.  Our water source is already-brackish ground water down 700-800 metres below surface. That represents a tremendous advantage for us and the environment, given we don't have to use fresh water resources."

Ferguson noted that in addition to the environmental conditions being suitable, the Eyebrown/Tugaske location had the proper infrastructure already in place.

"Road access is important...bu the key infrastructure we need is rail," explained Ferguson. "All the product moves by rail, not by truck.  In both of these areas we're looking at we have excellent rail infrastructure existing."

Ferguson says Gensource will be conducting open houses in the Tugaskey/Eyebrow area in the near future so residents and be informed.
