Expect these gas prices to stick around just a little longer as we start making our way through the weekend.

Dan McTeague, a Senior Petroleum Analyst at GasBuddy.com, said they should be dropping sooner than later.

"This price is likely to stick around the dollar eighteen until Monday or Tuesday at which point it should start to drop back down towards the dollar ten range, dollar twelve range, but no sooner does that happen that retailers will realize they're going to be faced with another four cent, three and a half cent wholesale price increase to accommodate the new supplies of summer gasoline."

So prices will be moving upwards, but why do they keep going up?

"Whole sale prices have been moving up and eating away at the small margins that retailer gas stations have," McTeague explained. "Such that right now the last calculation I looked at is worse case scenario. It's coating gas stations about a buck six to buy their fuel. They might be able to get it for a penny cheaper here or there."
