With the weather as cold as it’s been this year, it may come as a bit of a surprise to think about the gardening season as being just around the corner.

But Seedy Sunday is happening again, with seeds available to trade or sell, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moose Jaw Public Library.

“We have a seed swap table set up, so you can bring seeds that you’ve saved over the year and you can trade them with other gardeners and then we have seed vendors than come,” said Green Sister Gardens’ Keri Fox. Vendors have their seeds for sale at the event as well.

“We have a kids area with some crafts, which is going to be super fun,” said Green Sisters’ Allison Taylor. “It’s a great way to connect with like-minded people.”

The kids are will also be playing the animated movie The Lorax, which is based on a Doctor Seuss book. That will start at 11 a.m.

There are different kinds of soil even, within the city.

“The gardens that we have in North Hill have a lot more clay and tend to hold water more, and then the ones on South Hill have a lot more sand,” said Fox. “The seeds typically work in both, but the way that we irrigate and the compost we have to put on changes a bit.”
