The Make a Wish foundation is for kids ages 3 to 17 that are living with a critical illness, and sometimes that means a terminal situation.

Statistics have shown that 83% of kids that went through this, now that they're adults, said that their wish actually helped improve their health.

Sparkling Sunset is a local upcoming fundraiser for the foundation, being held at Temple Gardens, and includes supper and an auction.

With no funding from anywhere else, the night is hoping to raise the money needed to fund the wishes of local area kids.

Organizer Natosha Wareham Bakkar said it's a dessert night.

"We're going to serve you some supper, but don't fill up on that. We're going to have amazing desserts. As many as we can fill your sweet tooth with. We've got dessert stations planned. We're going to have some auction items while we're there, as well as a penny parade trying to raise that money."

In the Moose Jaw area alone we have 10 kids, and each wish runs about $10,000, said Bakker.

"10 kids waiting in Moose Jaw. that's not even the province. We aren't getting funding from anybody. The money that we raise, that's how we're paying for these wishes."

Ticket proceeds will be going directly back into the Make A Wish foundation to help local area kids get their wishes.

"There are 3 different ticket options. If you're buying an individual ticket, it's going to run you $65. If you want to get a group together, a table of 8 for $500. There's also a beautiful package that we have in partnership with Temple Gardens. For $189 you're going to get 2 tickets to the event, and a night at the hotel. So enjoy those cocktails, your room is upstairs."

The event takes place at 6 o'clock on Friday September 20th, and Stadacona Soul will performing.
