Pride Month may have pased but the celebrations aren't over as Moose Jaw Pride will be holding their Pride Week and various events from July 22nd to the 28th.

Communities across Saskatchewan have been holding their own Pride Weeks since May, and with MJ Pride being a part of a majority of those events, it's now time for them to host their own week.

25 years after Moose Jaw's first pride celebrations, a full schedule is planned for anybody who wants to get involved.

"Lots of work goes into making these festivals happen in each of these little communities, and you know, we're really excited to have Moose Jaw join them and to have our parade," Joe Wickenhauser, Executive Director of Moose Jaw Pride said. "We've got lots of great events and activities happening, and we hope that communities from across Saskatchewan will come and join us for Pride Week right here in the Friendly City."

All sorts of events are planned for the week, with all being unique in their own way.

All events start on Sunday at 6 pm with a smudging ceremony and flag raising.

"I think it's really exciting to see different people joining and feeling comfortable being a part of something," Wickenhauser said. "When you have a presence in the community for a few years, people start to realize who you are, they start to get to know you, and I think the more the people get to know us the less afraid of us they'll be, and the more willing people are to welcome us as part of the community."
