Four deaths and 231 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Wednesday in the province, as well as 317 recoveries.

All four residents who died were from the Regina zone, with one being in their 30's, one in their 40's, one in their 70's, and one was in the 80 plus age group.

Of the new cases, 5 are in the south-central zone, 75 are in Regina, 68 in Saskatoon, 21 in the southeast, 19 in the central-east, 12 in the far northwest, eight in the northwest, eight in the southwest, four in the north-central zone, one in the northeast, and one in the central-west. Nine of the new cases are pending resident information.

2,551 cases are considered active, with 106 of those located in the sub-region 'south-central 2' which is made up of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.

185 people are in hospital with 136 receiving inpatient care and 49 in intensive care.

Vaccines

Effective 8 a.m. Thursday, vaccine eligibility will open up to all residents aged 44 and up. This applies to appointments booked online or over the phone, as well as walk-in and drive-thru clinics, and mobile clinics.

With the recent change to the minimum age for use of the AstraZeneca vaccine, residents should be aware that any one of the three approved vaccines - Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca - may be offered at their chosen clinic. All are safe and approved for use.

An additional 7,554 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 365,001.

The 7,554 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Far North West (126), Far North Central (2), Far North East (155), North West (675), North Central (533), North East (321), Saskatoon (1,743), Central West (342), Central East (1,007), Regina (743), South West (408), South Central (512) and South East (719). There were 268 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Fifty-two per cent of Saskatchewan residents age 40+ have received their first dose.
