CPR employees running the 2019 Holiday train pledged to donate their wages to the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank back in December.

Thursday morning it paid off as Bill Pitts, Kevin Ingalls, and Robert Dunlop from CPR stopped by the Food Bank to present a cheque worth $4,683.02.

Terri Smith is from the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank, she explains how big of an impact this donation will make.

"It's going to make a big impact, this is something where we can go and buy fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, extra milk, and extra meat that we're lacking right now. We have a lot of non-perishable items right now but what we're really looking for is more cash donations so we can take that money and buy fresh produce and dairy."

Bill Pitts explained how he came up with the idea.

"Well CP does it every year on their Holiday Train and I thought to myself  'the union should probably take part in this' so we brought it up to the union, it was passed unanimously at the division meeting and away we went with it. It's a great way to give back to communities."

Pitts says they plan on doing it again this year, and that it was very rewarding to donate.
