Like Moose Jaw, southern Saskatchewan appears to be slowly returning to normal. Flood waters have been levelling off in recent days and the Moose Jaw River returned to its banks on the weekend.
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authorities John Fahlman believes water levels in many areas have peaked. "The warmer weather has melted off most of the snow and there's not much left showing on the satellite photos, other than the Cypress Hills/Eastend area. What's happening is the snow that has melted is now moving through the system and that's what we're monitoring."
However, some areas around Fort Qu'Appelle and the Grasslands National Park in the southwest, could see some more water in the days to come. For the rest of us, it's just a waiting game and Fahlman says it could be weeks before river levels return to normal.
