Increasing vitality today and reducing the risk of disease in the future. That’s the goal of the new Prodrome Health Centre that opened their doors in Moose Jaw.

The centre is the first of its kind in the world and is the first facility that offers this type of technology commercially.

CEO - Dr Dayan Goodenowe explains what it is the centre does;

"I use the analogy; we're in the business of diagnosing bald tires, not flat tires. We can identify a bald tire before it becomes flat so the individual can then say 'I wasn't aware I was at risk of getting a flat tire. Let me change my driving habits, or get a new tire, before I have a break down."

"We identify that biochemical risk in individuals before they have the disease so they can intervene before they have a disease. This technology has never been available commercially. This is the first commercial launch of that technology in the world, here in Saskatchewan."

Erika Shklanka is the VP of Operations for Prodrome,

"A facility like this is so important so that people can feel supported, can build community, you're not just going to come to a waiting room and then not know when you can come back. Come and learn from everyone in the building. A facility like this is needed to build the community and support everyone."

Prodrome Health offers an advanced research blood test that measures biomarkers in your blood that have been scientifically proven to indicate increased risk of future disease. With the results, they then work with the individual to come up with a strategy to lower that risk in the future. Diseases linked to the biomarkers measured include Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes.
