Happy Canada Day Moose Jaw! While many of the events and activities we may have been looking forward to this week have been cancelled, one favourite outdoor activity is still taking place.

Tourism Moose Jaw's Canada Day fireworks display is scheduled to begin at around 10:15 tonight down at Hamilton Flats, just like always.

Executive Director of Tourism Moose Jaw, Jackie L'Heureux-Mason explains a few new rules that attendees are requested to follow.

"The only change that should be different is that we're just asking people to respect the same social distancing guidelines that we're all getting used to now. Stay in or on your car. If you are going to be meeting people who are not in your extended family group then wear a mask."

Vehicles can line up along Thatcher Drive where barricades will be in place to ensure that no one gets too close to the fireworks.

"People usually start gathering around that 9:30 mark to get a parking spot. There are also quite a few through-roads in the Stadacona area where you can park too. So there's a lot of space and you can see fireworks from a long way off."

L'Heureux-Mason says that this year's show is due in large part to the generosity of the Kinsman Club who have footed the entire bill for the fireworks.

Be sure to thank the volunteers who have worked so hard to make sure that there we can still celebrate in one way or another.

Let's celebrate and stay safe Moose Jaw!
