Quick reaction from local first responders is what kept a scary situation at bay.

Monday evening the Moose Jaw Fire Department along with the Police Service and SaskPower jumped to action when they received for reports of a garage fire

"The Moose Jaw Fire Department responded with 9 personnel, two engines, and 1 command unit," explained Rod Klippenstien, Fire Prevention Officer for the local Fire Department.

Flames had engulfed a single building on a residence on the 1300 block of Coteau Street West, across the street from Manitou Crescent on Monday around 5 pm. However, Klippenstein noted that thanks to speedy efforts from his team they were able to keep it to the one building, but they are still unsure how it all started.

"The fire damaged the contents and the structure of the garage. The cause of this fire is still currently under investigation," said Klippenstien. "The fire involved a double car detached garage, the damage is estimated at $50,000."

Thankfully, the Fire Department had no injuries to report and the investigation continues for local officials.
