The Moose Jaw fire department is investigating following a house fire Thursday night.

Just before 8, crews were called to the 5-hundred block of Stadacona West to fight a blaze, apparently caused by a cigarette that kept burning after the lone occupant fell asleep. The resident escaped the home, suffering non life-threatening injuries.

Crews took about two hours to fight the blaze and left the scene.  However, it re-ignited just before 3am and crews responded to completely douse the fire.

The Moose Jaw Fire Department continues to investigate.
