Thanks to a quick response from the Moose Jaw Fire Department, there wasn't a large amount of danger caused by a grass fire on Tuesday.

Chief, Rod Montgomery said that his crew was able to manage the blaze and kept it pertained to a small area.

"It happened out around the Valley View Centre on 7th Avenue at the bridge that has been decommissioned, the south side of it. The fire was in the brush area, than it went up the hill rather quickly once it gained some speed. For the most part it was contained to the valley."

Once firefighters were able to extinguish the flames, they began to explore options of what may have cause it. Chief Montgomery said there's a possibility that there could be a human factor involved.

"We didn't have any lightning in the area and there's no other sources of ignition. It's just speculation on my part."

Now that spring has arrived and we might not see any precipitation anytime soon, Chief Montgomery would like to remind residents to be safe in dry conditions.
