This Fire Prevention Week, the Moose Jaw Fire Department will be doing something special that they haven't done in a while, holding an open house.

"Our open house is in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week," Public Safety Officer for the Moose Jaw Fire Department Cathy Bassett said. "This year, we're focusing on the slogan 'Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire Can Happen Anywhere,' and it's been a couple of years since we had our last open house and we thought this would be a nice way to touch base with the public."

Along with showing off the hall, they will also be sharing important fire safety tips with everyone. They want people to look for potential fire hazards around your home, listen to and upkeep your fire and Carbon Monoxide alarms and learn two exits from your home in case there is a fire.

The open house will be open to everybody and free. There, they will show off their tower truck, Emergency Measures Organization command bus, all of their fire trucks and equipment, their boat, and their hazmat trailer. They will also have games, prizes, fire safety videos and lesson, and a BBQ.

It will also be a little more special since they will hold the open house at their South Hill fire hall, which they rarely hold tours at.

Fire Prevention Week is October 7th to the 13th, the open house will be this Wednesday, October 10th from 11 am to 2 pm at 750 Lillooet St. W.
