The extremely hot weather is putting a damper on open campfires this weekend at the pair of provincial parks located in the southwest.

The Ministry of Parks, Culture, and Sport placed the ban this morning on seven parks in Saskatchewan including Cypress Hills Inter-provincial Park and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.

Self-contained barbecues, fire pits, stoves and heating devices will be permitted at the discretion of each of the parks.

But provincial parks aren't the only ones airing on the side of caution. The RM of Loreburn is also following suit and asking residents to refrain from lighting an open fire. The community just East of Moose Jaw covers the village of Elbow, Douglas, Danielson, and Elbow Harbor recreational sites as well.

The list continued to grow throughout Friday afternoon in preparation for the weekend, the RM of Eyebrow and the RM of Huron which encompasses the community of Tugaske have both implemented a fie ban.
