The final part of phase 3 of the city of Moose Jaw's water main replacement program is going to be getting underway soon.

Crews from KMS Construction will be working on Athabasca Street West between Ninth and 11th avenues Northwest once setup work is done and preparation is complete.

“We’re just finishing the last site that was scheduled to be complete last year,” said Bob Craig, an engineer with the city. “Due to some early winter conditions last year we didn’t get to the final site, so the contractor is back and ready to go for the construction season to get this last site completed for Phase 3, and then we’ll be moving on to the phase 4 sites.”

The contractor will be coming to area residents delivering notices of service.

“Everyone will be ran on temporary water for the time being so they won’t really have any impact on their day to day use of the water once they get up and running,” Craig said.

Craig said it will be about two or three weeks to get the temporary water supply set up for area residents.

“It will probably be before we start to see any digging, it’ll probably be in the middle of May, I’d say.”

They are aiming to have work complete and cleaned up by first week of June.
