Literacy week is coming to a close and adding to that we want to remind you of the 20th annual Saskatchewan Festival of Words coming up this summer.

Organizers are getting things ready for the educational event and Executive Director Sarah Simison says a local celebrity from our city will be coming back to talk about her new book.

"It's Moose Jaw's sweetheart Angie Abdou, everyone loves Angie and she'll be promoting her most recent book of fiction called Between. We love having her here, she's an audience favorite and she loves coming home" said Simison.

Along with Jody Midick a 20 year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces who participated in the Amazing Race in 2013. Zarqa Nawaz the creator of little Mosque on the prairie the event will have Canadian author Arthur Slade.

"Yeah, he'll be coming he'll be teaching the teen writing experience this year, which is a week long intensive writing program. It's in the week leading up to the festival and it's for teen age 14 to 18 that are interested in writing."

"We find scholarships for each of the students that come, so nobody will be left out if they are unable to pay. They get their own spot at the festival, so all the teens that take part in the program are able to take part in the festival itself."

Simison is getting excited to announce the full list of guests in the spring.

"The full line up will be announced in April we'll do a launch at our festival office and sell passes and tickets for everything. So, at this point we just have flex passes for $125 and gift certificates available for full passes for $175."

Simison said there still is some room available for performers but it won't take long to fill the list.
