According to the Moose Jaw Food Bank's website, 1 in 12 Moose Javians requires the food bank's assistance in putting food on the table.

In light of this Farm Credit Canada(FCC) runs their "Drive Away Hunger" event. Ashley Chorney is the Relationships Manager with FCC and she explained what the campaign is.

"Every year Farm Credit Canada puts on a Campaign that's called 'Drive Away Hunger', and what we do is collect non-perishable food items from local businesses in the community and surrounding areas as well as the schools, and we have a tractor that will go around to all of the schools to collect food and at the end of the day we drop that all off at the Moose Jaw Food Bank."

It runs every fall and FCC wanted to kick things off with something different this year in Moose Jaw on Tuesday this week.

"We are doing a fundraiser BBQ. All proceeds are going to the Moose Jaw Food Bank, (it is) the kickoff to our Drive Away Hunger campaign that we do every fall," said Chorney. "Our BBQ is running between 11 am and 2 pm and it's located in our parking lot here at 1216 Main Street North."

They also have a tractor bucket that they are hoping to fill with non-perishable food items which will also be donated to the Moose Jaw Food Bank.
