Driving may be a challenge following the winter storm, but farmers couldn't be happier. With all the snow over the weekend, farmers are very happy with the added moisture to their fields.

The snow fall will melt and soak in, which will be really good for getting the crop germinated and off and growing.

Norm Cobb, Customer Service Representative at Parrish & Heimbecker in Moose Jaw, said that this storm has hit the perfect bulls-eye of western Canada. "The ground was dry, and people were very concerned about moisture levels. So this wet wet snow that's sitting on there, 4 to 6 inches, is going to melt in very very quickly. None of it will run off. It's all going to become moisture for the crop to grow."

Cory Jacob with the Ministry of Agriculture in Moose Jaw, said plans to seed won't be effected much, "It will back us up a little bit. We need the snow to melt and the fields to firm up, but by the end of this week I can't see why guys wouldn't be rolling."

If a crop has already germinated, there's a potential of damage to the plants, said Jacob, but "snow has a pretty good insulating factor as well. It's kind of a wait and see type of game. This shouldn't be affecting, and the crop should germinate and grow."
