Running an average of 42 kilometres per day, Rick Fall isn’t stopping his journey until he reaches home base in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. The plan is to arrive in August.

The initiative, Fall-O-Rick Home to Home began April 12 in Victoria, B.C.

His trek across the country is aiming to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation and Childhood Cancer Canada, organizations near and dear to the retired teacher’s heart.

“My niece was granted a wish through them some years ago before she ended up passing away. I chose Childhood Cancer because I've been working with a number of students that either has succumbed to or have had cancer. I feel there's a need for more research and help for kids and families that have to deal with this,” Fall explained.

Fall, who is working his way through the prairies, with his wife Colette trailing in a support vehicle, is coming through Moose Jaw on Wednesday.

“I'm originally from Duncan just outside of Victoria, which I ran from Victoria through my hometown of Duncan and I'm running to Sault Ste. Marie, my home. That's why I'm calling this run, Follow Rick Home to Home.”

Fall encourages you to follow along through Facebook or Instagram or their website where the athlete is being tracked every step of the way.

On the website, you can also make a donation to the cause as he attempts to reach his goal of running 100 marathons or 4200 KM.

To date, over $43,000 has been raised for the two causes.
