Every year the Saskatchewan Festival of Words blows away attendees, authors and volunteers who help to run the four day event.

With over 60 events this past weekend, there was certainly something for everyone, but one local group has made it their mission to annually support one of the workshops.

The Moose Jaw Wakamow Rotary Club handed over a cheque of $500 to the Executive Director for the Festival of Words, Sarah Simison, along with the author hosting the Kid's Ink event, Kai Cheng Thom.

Thom taught children ages 9-13 the importance of characters in a story and what characteristics make them integral to the story line.

'From Fabulous to Ferocious: Creating Exciting and Diverse Characters,' was a chance to show children tools to keep them from writing themselves into a corner, and they also went over things like stereotypes and cliches.
