Now that classes have been back in session for a few weeks, it's now possible to step back and take a look at the number of students enrolled in Moose Jaw's schools.

With the enrollment numbers down quite a bit last year, there was some uncertainty as to what the number of students would look like this fall. Tony Baldwin, director of education at Prairie South explains.

"Last year we were about eighty students fewer than we had projected. But we've done a better job this year, and we're at about the 6500 mark this year."

Fortunately, that number means the enrollment has balanced and is about at par with past years.

"It's pretty rare that we just nail it right on at any single school. But we have some gives and takes and in the end, we are right about where we thought we would be."

25 new teachers also joined the division for the 2019-2020 school year. Baldwin says they bring an important, fresh perspective to the curriculum.
