***Update***

The Moose Jaw Fire Department received a call at 12:19 pm yesterday afternoon, Jan. 28, describing an interior house fire on the 200 block of Lillooet St. East.

Crews made an immediate entry and were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire.

Fire Chief Rod Montgomery explains more.

"There was a combination of things that made this turn out well. We had an early detection by the resident and a quick response by our department.

Montgomery says the origin of the fire is still under investigation but that they do not consider the fire to be suspicious at this time.

The scene was also attended by police and EMS but Montgomery says that there were no injuries.

"It's standard practice for them to come and stand by in case either someone from the home or one of our personnel needs assistance."

Overall, Montgomery says that the fire didn't do any structural damage to the home but that there is extensive smoke damage. He reminds residents to always have working smoke alarms.

"They certainly do make a difference."
