Privately-owned elm trees will be able to be pruned starting on Tuesday.

The provincial elm tree pruning ban to help stop the spread of dutch elm disease will be lifted.

The city is reminding residents to dispose of elmwood in the city landfill or promptly burn it in a legal fireplace or fire pit. You will need to request an Elm Wood Disposal Permit from the Parks and Recreation Department if you want to dispose of elmwood.

The City has reported 30 cases of Dutch Elm Disease this year and removed about 65 trees.
