If you wanted to get the pruning shears out and take care of your elm trees, tomorrow is the day.

The Saskatchewan government's ban on pruning elm trees ends tomorrow. The ban is put in place between April 1st and August 31 each year to help curb the spread of Dutch Elm Disease.

It's still illegal to transport or store elm wood, so you are encouraged to dispose of elm wood promptly by burning or burying it in a location approved by the local municipality.

Outside of the ban, regular pruning help keep elm trees healthier and less vulnerable to all types of diseases, including DED.
