An Edmonton man is facing a number of charges after being arrested in Mortlach over the weekend.

Saskatchewan Highway Patrol asked for assistance from Moose Jaw RCMP for a vehicle that was pulled over west of Caronport on Highway 1 on Saturday. The Dodge Ram was initially pulled over for equipment violations, but police later learned it was reported stolen.

Police say the driver of the truck gave officers what looked like a fake licence and the Alberta licence plate did not match the registration.

While pulled over, police said the driver drove away. Police followed the truck to a Mortlach residence, where the driver was arrested.

Police searched the home and found stolen driver’s licences, SIN cards and vehicle registrations, mainly from Alberta.

Trevor Stross of Edmonton is facing numerous charges including obstruction, flight from the peace officer, failure to comply with conditions, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of meth, altering a vehicle identification number and several gun-related charges.

Stross made his first court appearance on Thursday at Moose Jaw Provincial Court and will be back in court on March 4.

Police are still trying to identify possible victims. If someone suspects they’ve had their identification stolen are asked to contact police.
