It was a sad and early start for the Moose Jaw Fire Department.

First responders got the call around 1:30 am on Monday morning to a home on the 900 block of Ominica Street West for a report of a fire. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the single building and keep it from spreading; however, the home won't be salvageable according to fire officials.

"It was a house that a resident was living in but it will be a total write off," explained Fire Chief Rod Montgomery.

During the day Monday, various Police, and Fire personnel were on scene assessing the damage done to the house.

"Our investigator's down there doing an investigation. A member of the Moose Jaw Police Service is assisting in that investigation as well."

According to Chief Montgomery, there were no injuries reported and there isn't an estimated total in damage at this time.
