A world-wide e-mail bomb threat yesterday turned out to be a hoax.

The sender of the e-mail advised the recipient that their place of business would be visited by a person carrying trinitrophenylmethylnitramine - commonly known as tetryl, an explosive compound - and that if $20,000 was not received via Bitcoin, the bomb would be detonated.

The Regina Police Service said the message was unfounded and did not pose a credible threat to the public. Four businesses in that city received the e-mail.
