If you're out and about this weekend near the Moose Jaw Armoury and hear gunfire, don't worry, it's just the demonstrations at the third annual open house and training weekend.

From 10 am until 4 pm at the Moose Jaw Armouries on Main St. N. the open house will showcase the variety of equipment and training techniques.

"We're going to have the Saskatchewan Dragoon members conducting training on the same weekend," said Sgt. Steven Cox. "They'll be doing vehicle checkpoints, and if the public wants to come and check them out, watch that, they're able to do so. We'll be firing blank ammunition during the day, don't worry, it's all safe."

Sgt. Cox also said that the open house is a great chance for members of the public to find out what the military reserves have to off and answer questions people may have about joining.

"We're putting this on to really show the public what the military reserves can offer people as well as paid education programs, whether they want to go to RMC for free, and how to get into that, or if they want to stay local and serve their country, but still have their education paid for."

The Dragoons will be displaying a variety of the aspects at the armoury, including a weapons stand, information presentations, vehicle demonstrations, and hands-on activities such as the small arms trainer course.

"We will have all of our weapons on display from our service rifle, the C782 all the way up to our automatic grenade launching system, which fires 40mm grenades. We'll be using our LUV-W, a Mercedes Benz G-wagon, and we'll be driving around in that. We'll have one on display as well if people want to climb in and see what a Mercedes Benz look like on the inside."
