As COVID-19 numbers in the province continue to rise, new restrictions on nightclubs have been put in place for the city of Saskatoon.

The 195 active cases in the bridge city have been primarily linked to young adults visiting nightclubs and bars.

Saskatchewan's Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab, says we need to start being more diligent and willing to give up on our normal plans if we're feeling even slightly ill, or if social distancing is not possible.

"I think we all made plans in March and April, we enjoyed our summer, but now is the time to revise those plans and make sure that we all have a plan to isolate at home if needed, in a way that will keep others in the household safe."

Dr. Shahab says Regina has been seeing a jump in cases as well, but those are not linked to social gatherings.

"It has not been linked so far to super-spreader events but there has been transmission in home settings. That's a reminder for all of us that we should have a plan in our house that if someone tests positive, how will they stay home for those 14 days. If you were to become symptomatic while isolating, you need to be confident that you did not expose anyone else in the house."

Saskatchewan has 528 additional active cases compared to this time a month ago (September 29).
