While last Friday and Saturday's windy forecast lead to many residents cleaning up toppled chairs and the odd tree branch in their yards, one resident will need some repairs to his vehicle's windshield.

Local Rob Hoskins vehicle was struck by one of the Christmas decorations hung up downtown, after the wind left it hanging over the road.

"I was just driving east on High Street and didn't notice it hanging, and all of a sudden out of the blue, the green decorations hit my window and smashed it to smithereens. It [the garland] has a huge extension cord plugin on one end and it caused two huge spider cracks right on the driver's side."

Hoskins says he's lucky that he has a $50 deductible on his windshield, and said he won't be contacting the city looking for money.

"Nine times out of 10 most people would say 'let's get the city to pay for this', but it's just not worth the headache, right? Not to speak ill of the city, but I'm sure there's a lot of bureaucracy you got to jump through to get something like that paid for by them."

Hoskins did say he tried to reach out to the city to let them know what happened on Saturday, but couldn't get a hold of anyone since City Hall was closed. He instead contacted the police who helped deal with the downed decoration.
