Donald’s Fine Foods, the owners of Thunder Creek Pork Plant, donated 200,000 masks to the City of Moose Jaw to be distributed to non-profit groups and small businesses.

Mayor Fraser Tolmie said he was grateful for the donation.

“They wanted to ensure that it would get to those that were first in need and also to other businesses within our community to help them in in this situation. That obviously we are we are in with everybody else across Canada with mask,” he said.

Masks have already been given out to organizations such as the Salvation Army, Riverside Mission and the Moose Jaw & District Food Bank.

The Government of Saskatchewan made masks mandatory in all public indoor places last month. While the mandate came from the province, the city has been encouraging residents to mask up.

“We're supporting the provincial government by following those regulations and also by allowing businesses to try and get through in this time,” Tolmie said.
