An investigation into a theft in the town of Vibank by the Indian Head RCMP ended on a positive note this past week.

The RCMP had received a call about an LED Santa Claus yard decoration that had been stolen in the town, which is 50 km southeast of Regina, along Highway 48. The officers from the Indian Head detachment utilized the Saskatchewan Crime Watch Advisory system to help with the investigation.

In the advisory, the officers said “If the thief would like to be removed from the naughty list, please make arrangements to have Santa Claus returned to the Vibank Village Office… Let’s start the holidays off right by having this item returned.”

It could be surmised the perpetrator saw the advisory, as, within 30 minutes of the advisory being issued, the light-up Santa was returned.

After the decoration was back in the hands of the rightful owner, the Indian Head RCMP issued a follow-up advisory: “No need to make that naughty list any longer than it needs to be. Thank you and happy holidays!”
