Starting this morning, the city of Moose Jaw and contractors will begin work to complete phase 3 of the east feeder water main replacement project

Communications Manager with the city of Moose Jaw, Craig Hemingway, shares some details.

"This morning at 9 am city crews and contractors are going to tie in the new feeder main. This is the end of Phase 3 of the east feeder water main replacement project. So to make that a successful transition, some areas of the city could have some reduced water pressure between today and Saturday."

Hemingway goes on to say this is NOT a boil water advisory, just a warning that water pressure may be down slightly.

"As it stands, knock on wood, its really going to be a minimal disturbance. There will be some loss of pressure for some residence, they will still have water, it just might not be as strong. Beyond experiencing a loss of pressure, that should be about it."

The affected area will be East of 1st Avenue NE from Town ‘N Country Drive south to Caribou St. East, as well as East of 3rd Avenue NE from Caribou St. south to Manitoba St.

"Ultimately we really expect mainly there just to be a lack of pressure in some areas, beyond that we aren't expecting anything significant. We've got one more phase left, and that's anticipated to be completed next year and that will be the final phase of connecting the feeder main from Town and Country Drive to our high service reservoir."

There are also emergency contingencies in place should a fire emergency arise within City limits during the transition period.
