Car parts were scattered down the side of the highway

New details have been released by police after a crash at the corner of the TransCanada Highway and 9th Avenue Northwest.  Officers are now looking for the driver of the car involved.

Emergency crews were called to the dangerous intersection around 3:45am when a car travelling north on 9th Avenue, failed to stop at the intersection and slammed into the side of an eastbound semi.  Investigators say the driver of the car then fled the area on foot, likely headed to the Sunningdale area of the city.

The K9 unit was brought in and tried to track the suspect but lost the trail. Anyone with information is asked to contact police as they continue to investigate. As of 8am, the eastbound lane of the TransCanada was still down to one lane of traffic due to the clean up efforts.

There was one minor injury according to police and damage is estimated at $50,000.
