Canadian Pacific Railway is giving the CHAB Family First Radiothon a huge boost.

They announced that they will be matching the first $20,000 in public donations to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.

Scott McGraw, superintendent of operation in southern Saskatchewan for CPR, said it was important for the organization to give back to the community.

“We see a lot of buy-in when it comes to charity and our employees going over and beyond, whether it be from attending different organizations to helping out, to donating,” McGraw said.

“You see a lot more of that out of here. When the Moose Jaw Health Foundation contacted us, we saw an opportunity to team up with everybody here and the public.”

Kelly McElree, executive director for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, was appreciative of CPR stepping up for the annual Radiothon.

“2020 hasn’t been easy for anyone and for an organization like CP to step up with a $20,000 matching donation for the Family First Radiothon it means the world of difference," McElree said.

“We are raising funds for all that wonderful new cardiac equipment to support our frontline healthcare heroes at our hospital and this goes a long way.”

The donation is being made through CPR’s community investment program "CP Has Heart", which donates to frontline healthcare workers.

The 14th annual Family First Radiothon will be taking place Sept. 10-11 at the Town ‘N’ Country Mall.

The goal this year is to raise $195,000 for a new defibrillator, crash cart, chemotherapy chairs and other items like cardiac monitors, a telemetry system and a Holter monitor for the F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
